About Us

Teraphysics was founded in 2004 to commercialize novel high frequency vacuum electronics in the millimeter and submillimeter frequency ranges. The company has developed practical CW sources, which are tunable, portable (~8 cubic inches) and light weight (< 2 lbs), and produce high output power (~30 mW) at low input power (~1.5 W). The company is developing a THz amplifier which, when used in conjunction with existing THz systems will significantly improve performance and acquisition time.

The company’s objective is to develop and commercialize, on a global basis, practical THz systems for high value applications with high volume demand in the areas of security, life sciences (including food safety and pharma) cosmetic surgery, cancer detection, wound healing and real-time remote detection and identification of pathogens.

The company’s source technology is a result of unique laboratory diamond growth technology developed by the Company’s predecessor, GENVAC AeroSpace, since 1994 coupled with innovative vacuum electronics design capability originating at NASA Lewis Research Center in the early 1990s. The company’s enabling products, a family of miniature high-power portable THz sources and amplifiers, are manufactured using modern microfabrication techniques, and can be mass-produced in large volumes (tens of thousands per year).
